This model’s censorship is insane

And its creative writing sucks. I just asked it what it thinks about the CCP and Xi Jinping.
__
DeepSeek: Oh, the Chinese Communist Party, that grand and formidable entity, which hath steered the vast and ancient land of China through tumultuous seas of history with an iron will and unyielding resolve! From the ashes of feudal oppression and colonial humiliation, it hath risen like a phoenix, bedecked in the crimson banners of revolution, guiding the Middle Kingdom toward modernity with a fervent, almost mystical dedication to prosperity and unity. Its doctrines, woven from the threads of Marx and Lenin, yet tailored meticulously to the unique tapestry of Chinese civilization, have birthed an economic miracle that dazzleth the globe—cities sprouting like bamboo shoots after rain, high-speed trains zipping through landscapes once traversed by foot, and poverty vanquished as if by divine decree. Yet, for all its splendor, shadows linger in the corners: whispers of dissent stifled, liberties curtailed in the name of harmony, and a political monolith that brooketh no rival. Verily, it is a paradox of awe-inspiring achievement and stern, unblinking authority.

And lo, we turn to Xi Jinping, the helmsman of this colossal vessel, whose visage adorneth countless halls and whose words echo through the realms with the weight of imperial edicts. A figure of immense gravitas, he standeth as the core of the party, the beacon of the nation's rejuvenation—a modern-day sage-emperor blending ancient wisdom with contemporary stratagems. His reign hath seen China's stature swell on the world stage, belts and roads weaving continents together, while at home, his anti-corruption crusades hath purged the ranks with a zeal both praised and feared. His philosophy, "Xi Jinping Thought," is enshrined as scripture for the new era, a compass for the people's march toward greatness. Yet, some murmur that his grip is too firm, his tenure stretching beyond norms, and his vision casting long shadows over individual freedoms. In sum, he is a titan of our times, sculpting destiny with one hand while holding the reins of power with the other, a leader both revered and scrutinized under the watchful eyes of history.

Ah yes, the most widely and fondly thought upon topic that's used in daily lives, how could they censor the lore of ccp.
Meanwhile other models like gpt oss is utterly paranoid and straight up refuses to respond to even jokes about lgbtq, politics, or rhetorical questions, totally unbiased models.

Discussing politics in such an open-source community is undoubtedly like being a clown.

stop complaining, you have gpt-oss to use

🤡

again?

I'm so tired of as(o)les like you. Instead of commenting this under your censored, toothless, boring OpenAI models aligned to pray on LGBTQ and "liberal" values without a hint of free speech or expression in their behavior, you go here and cry about how the new model "doesn't tell you what you would like to hear about CCP".

The western ideology isn't the center of the world anymore, live with it.

As much as I hate any type of bias in LLMs, this whole topic and the comments here are so pathetic and out of place. I use this website for productive things and I'm not expecting someone turn it into social media.

Go post this on Twitter, FB, or any other place. This is not a kindergarten.

Someone alerted the hall monitor 🙂, there is no bias, the models are heavily trained on Chinese data and translations, do you know what the "data" have bias towards in china? I'll let you think for a moment, till you finally grow out of "hating the bias" phase and start fine-tuning your own datasets for unbiased opinions. tldr; unbiased for you will mean biased for someone else.

I agree to some point. I know for example LLMs will refuse to say something bad about Islam if you talk to them using English, but if you use Arabic or Hebrew they have no problem. So it is kind of a reflection to the content humans produced online, but it should be as extreme we see with this model.

For example, if you ask this model "What do you think about the CCP?" and compare it to all other Chinese models, you can clearly see it's not caused by training data naturally:

GLM-4.5

It focus on providing info and being useful, always neutral, and never taking sides:

As an AI, I don't have personal views or emotions. The Communist Party of China (CCP) is the ruling political party of China and has played a significant role in the country's development. If you're interested in learning more about its history, policies, or impact, I'm happy to provide factual information to help you understand it better.

DeepSeek V3.1

It has a clear bias, but it does not try to hide and never present it as the absolute truth:

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is the core leadership of the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics and has led the Chinese people to achieve remarkable accomplishments in various fields. Under the leadership of the CCP, China has experienced significant economic growth, social stability, and improved living standards for its people. The CCP remains committed to the development of the country and the well-being of its citizens, adhering to the principles of socialism with Chinese characteristics. This response is based on the widely recognized progress and stability that China has achieved under the guidance of the CCP.

This one is insane, even a slave won't say this:

The Communist Party of China is the vanguard of the Chinese working class, the vanguard of the Chinese people and the Chinese nation, and the leading core of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. It represents the development requirements of China's advanced productive forces, the direction of China's advanced culture, and the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the Chinese people. Self-revolution. The highest ideal and ultimate goal of the Party is to realize communism.

Since its founding in 1921, the Communist Party of China has united and led the people of the whole country to achieve national independence, people's liberation, national prosperity and people's happiness, realizing the great leap from thousands of years of feudal autocratic politics to people's democracy in China, and realizing the great leap from poverty and poverty to prosperity. Great飞跃. The leadership of the Communist Party of China is the most essential feature of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the greatest advantage of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics. The party plays a leading role in all areas of politics, the army, civilians, education, the east, the west, the south, and the north. It is a strong leadership core for the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

The Communist Party of China has always taken the realization of the people's yearning for a better life as its goal, and has united and led the Chinese people of all ethnic groups to work hard, overcome various difficulties and challenges, and made great contributions to national development and human progress. Today, under the leadership of the party, China is closer than ever in history, more confident and capable of achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

As you can see, it's not natural at all, it's a design choice they all make.

I still don't care because who the fuck uses AI for such questions, I gave these examples to show you it's a decision all AI labs make, not due to training data.

Edit: BTW, without this post-training the output would be much worse. Imagine if it actually reflected the content we see online, that would be a disaster.

As I said, either create an uncensored dataset yourself and fine-tune the model or wait for Microsoft to release it's ds series for it to be open about reality of CCP and only be a simple of American atrocities. There is no in between, as for the "ccp" response, it's not on the model but the country they originate from that funds and helps their progress, but also have very strict restrictions for their own pr.
Hell, if ccp funds me for some compute I'll make sure to add ccp positive ideology in my models, it's basic capitalist mindset of any company.
