Thank You Qwen Team!!!!
This model is insanely good! Does it think a lot? Yes. Is that bad? No.
It does spend a lot on thinking, but the thinking is not a waste like some other models. There aren't (in my experience) the usual "Wait... | But, wait... | Actually..." thoughts looping over and over. This model actually thinks useful thoughts. It even has a bit of 'caveman' speak to cut down on some of the thinking token use I assume lol. It also remembers its thoughts and refers back to them during generation. It doesn't think about 10 things and then promptly forget 3 of them.
In my limited use so far, it has OUTPERFORMED my expectations and has consistently gone 'above and beyond' by including small, but useful additions of its own accord. It follows instructions expertly, and even ties little extra bows on to your request that you didn't even realize that you wanted until it gave them to you. This is the first model that I feel can handle the majority of local coding tasks easily. I couldn't even say that about 3.6, and that version was my daily driver for large tasks until now.
Qwen 3.8 is exactly how open source models should be and I am truly grateful to the Qwen team for helping to advance AI and make it accessible to everyone. Appreciate you guys and gals!! 🙏 🇺🇸 🇨🇳 💌
Qwen3.8-27B quickly fixed many bugs created by DeepSeek-V4-Flash-0731, Qwen3.8-27B is the real little steel cannon
